Bilge Pump Access & Why it Matters

One of the most critical pieces of a center console boat? The Bilge. See why our oversized, all-access bilge just might be one of your favorite features on a Regulator.

Could you imagine having a bilge like this? I'm standing in the bilge of this beautiful 31 Regulator. The bilge is one of the most critical pieces to a center console boat. It's where your bait wells draw their water. It's also where you'll find your engine rigging and mini pumps that are critical to your boat.

Today we're gonna cover the importance of bilge access, not only for your every day, but so you know where to go in case your bilge pump fails.

Right in front of the mezzanine seat, we get this large access store and something that the bright minds that Regulator thought of was to put in this piano style hinge instead of the barrel style hinges that you typically see with competitor brands. The benefit of that is that this door is not wiggling around or moving when open.

Look at the size of this bilge. You don't get this on some 40 foot boats. And here you'll see we have the bucket holder option. Now this is an option I haven't seen with any of the competitor brands, and what I like about it is that it is a simple yet really effective design that you can use for cast net bucket storage. You can put garbage in it, you can use it for cleaning products.

And my favorite feature is that in a matter of seconds, this whole system just lifts right out of the boat and you can see how easy that is. So if you want to use the bilge space differently, you can.

You'll also notice that regulator does a polished gelcoat finish in their bilges. This has a few advantages. My number one is that it looks great. Another thing is that if you madea mess in here, it's easier to clean up.

Regulator also took the time to route all of the rigging cleanly out of the way and labeled doing this gives you a better use of the space in here. You don't have wires or electrical components just off the floor where you can snag something on them. Having a large access also makes it easier on the techs who do your annual services or winterizing.

Now what do you do if a bilge pump fails? Every few years, you need to service this bilge pump right here and I like that Regulator made it easy because you're not having to stand on your head or put your arm through a small hole in order to change the pump. And what makes it easy is that they use a Deutsch connector so it's plug and play it unclips and the matter of minutes. You can change your bilge pump out, and you're not gonna miss the best part of boating in the summer or a weekend where your dealer's not open in order to be able to use your boat.

Regulator truly thinks of every little detail to make your time out on the water more enjoyable. You can truly feel the difference when you hop on board a Regulator. So enjoy and see you out there!
